The internet is riddled with puppy mills and unethical breeders using fancy and attractive sites as a front to perpetuate bad breeding to unsuspecting buyers. In some cases, like below, the site may not even be real and will contain quality dog photos pirated from other ethical breeders sites. Even a phone call is not enough to protect you..........in this case below the scam artist DID have conversations with us on the phone! They are brazen and if you are not careful you may be next! FYI if you see an ad on a public web area like Puppy find and the ad says the dog is 350.00 including shipping, and there are numerous types of dogs listed for sale from that person..................it is a SCAM! Shipping costs 250.00 generally, so that person with all the beautiful dog photos is saying basically the dog is only worth 100.00!!! Also another problem is if the shipping is too low...................like 175.00. Just a plane ticket for cargo is around 192.00 so here again SCAM!
Melissa Jacoby: Melvin Texas, Kennel: Chihuahua Ranch. Since a bad review on Puppyfind.com her new kennel name changed 1/21/08 to J Chihuahua Ranch! Another Kennel name she is using 3-4/08 is AJ Kennels in Brady Texas. 7/16/08 New Kennel name is just "R" 3/12/09 Randal in Melvin TX she sells both CKC and AKC registered dogs. As she is tracked down her kennel names and noted location change..... BEWARE!
Scamming customers by shipping dogs with serious mouth,
tongue and teeth issues without previously disclosing them.
She and her vet maintain the dog sticks its tongue out and the deformity is "a habit". That is equal to saying if someone has a disability they do it because they feel like it. Her statement alone speaks volumes. The two veterinarians here that checked the dog are AHAA accredited and have been in business for over 20+ years.
She will also claim in reference to this situation that she offered me a refund. She offered me a whopping 350.00 and she wanted to choose what airline I used, and wanted me to pay for it!!!! That would mean after I shipped the dog back at my expense my refund would be 100.00????? She also was withholding the refund until her "vet" determined that I was not the one who abused the dog. I have saved all of the emails, but will refrain from posting those on here.
This is Ginger below, her tongue sticks out of this side of her mouth and her teeth are in the condition of a 7-10 year old dog! She is only 2 here in the photo. Her pedigree, after I researched it was full of inbreeding! Please do note this dog was place in a pet home and is spayed............she was declaired unfit for sale by her new owners vet also and her teeth have been removed. All documents to this above statement are below.

Below is the UN-FIT FOR SALE document.
You will note all of the problems in reference to the above dog. It was even recommended that the dog be taken to a specialist for her teeth problems. Here in NJ our vets are skilled and they charge in accordance. Just the basic cleaning is 300.00 here in NJ! I had asked Melissa to comply with at least this much and she offered me 80.00.........because that is what they charge in her town. IMO she should just have taken care of the dog and all of this could have been avoided. This dog is of her own breeding so all care issues fall solely on her.

Note here in the pedigree on the mothers (Dams) side all of the inbreeding! Inbreeding is ONLY done when there is perfection with a certain quality, and even then it is questionable. In this case it is anyones guess why all of the dogs are related...........Note the breeder IS Melissa Jacoby.

Warning: Texas has over 150 counties, each county does not have dog laws the same as the state as a whole. Each city (due to so many area's being rural) is not governed by the county it is in. Tracking down unknown breeders in this state and having them investigated is nearly impossible. If the breeder has several hundred acres of land out in the country, as this one does, the eye of the law is not as keen as it would be near one of the major cities! This information was given to me by an Animal control officer in the upper part of the state of Texas.
NEW NOTE: AN ARIZONA CHIHUAHUA BREEDER HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY MELISSA:
Lil's has been scammed by this same breeder (Melissa Jacoby) but she was shipped multiple dogs with teeth problems. She also was shipped a "breeding female" but her previous C-section was not disclosed! It was only found out after the dog was bred, and during the c-section, that one of the dogs uterine horns had surgical scar tissue. Another female was shipped pregnant (was not supposed to be) and when the puppies were born the DNA did NOT match the Sire Melissa claimed. Even though she spent thousands on the dogs, was only offered 350.00 to take the dogs back!!!! This did not include the money for the flight. With the evidence provided, Puppy Find . com has now reinstated the one star rating that was placed on Melissa. Melissa has since removed her listings from Puppy Find . com.
NEW NOTE:
Melissa Jacoby has been contacting various breeders, who just happen to be friends of mine, trying to acquire new dogs! If you are a person who has an animal for sale please take note of my story and do not sell this breeder one of your animals!

CUDDLEY CHI CHI'S AND MORE SCAM! SCAMMER: LESLIE HOLLAND

This scam was being run by a woman named Leslie Hewitt also using the name Holland. Her husbands name is Mark Hewitt. They originate from Ohio but the bulk of their scams happend in North Carolina and the one we happened upon was in Radcliff Kentucky! They had pirated photos and placed them on puppyfind.com to entice people to this bogus website above, then when money was sent to them they ran off with the money and of course never shipped out any puppies!
These individuals use false addresses, pirated cell phone numbers, pasted to non traceable prepaid cell phones. Don't bother trying the link above because law enforcement and I have had it removed! All of the photo's on the site were pirated from other breeders albums on webshots.com. They have all been contacted by me to let them know their photos were being used on a website used to scam people out of money.
Before you send money to anyone ask for a picture of the puppy in front of dated material such as a local news paper. This way you will know what town the puppy is in and if the owner really has the animal in their possession! If a breeder finds this request a bit funny or does not want to send updated photos of their animals, please BEWARE! Ask questions, write emails and call on the phone. These are also good ways to make sure you are getting a real puppy and to develop a good relationship with the breeder at the same time.
DO NOT send Wal-Mart money grams as they cost nearly 50.00 to obtain and CAN NOT be traced, unless police are involved, and the money order is subpoenaed. Do meet the person you are purchasing from in person and either provide cash or a money order. At least with the money order you will have a receipt of your transaction. Pay Pal is another good option, especially if you are out of state.
UPDATE: Leslie Holland is in the Carolina's facing charges brought on by 5 other individuals she has scammed across the US. She will be facing a Class C Felony of Unlawful Access to the computer when she is finally extrodited to Kentucky.

The above named Defendants were charged in Hardin County for Theft by Failure to Make Required Dispostion of Property Over $300. They both have accepted a joint rocket docket offer as follows: three (3) years probated on the conditions of restitution of _________; Complete 32 hours per week of work or community service. The Defendants will enter their guilty plea on September 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 1. You do not need to appear at this hearing, but may if you choose to appear.
You should start receiving restitution payments around November or December from the Clerk's Office of Harden County. If you do not, please feel free to call me and I will advise the probation.
